Lorin has over 20 years of experience working with individuals with Autism and related disorders from birth through adulthood, with special expertise in intensive early intervention. She is nationally certified (BCBA) and licensed by the state of Pennsylvania (BSL). Lorin also has a nephew who is on the spectrum, so she understands it from a personal perspective as well.
Therapy plans are developed to meet the needs of each child and his/her family. Caregivers are an integral part of treatment planning. Therapy is based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), which has decades of peer-reviewed research supporting its effectiveness. Lorin utilizes naturalistic, play-based techniques, incorporating the interests of the child and accounting for his/her developmental needs.
In-home therapy to help your young child develop communication, social skills, leisure skills, and daily living skills. Program intensity is decided by your child's age and needs, as determined by behavior-based assessments and developmental assessments. Working in your home allows you to be an active participant in your child's therapy and may reduce the number of hours needed from professionals.
If your child has an isolated behavior of concern, we can conduct a Functional Behavior Assessment to determine what purpose the behavior is serving for your child. Based on this assessment, we will develop a plan utilizing positive behavior support strategies, including teaching replacement behaviors as needed. We can train caregivers, teachers and/or support professionals to implement the plan. This service can happen in home, school, or other location.
Training is available for parents, caregivers, teachers or other professionals on the following topics:
